Contributor Shopping

Merchant contributions can make a difference for our wild patients. Here is a shopping guide that will help you designate California Wildlife Center as your charity of choice.

Help the animals while you shop at Ralphs. We participate in the Ralphs Community Contribution Program which contributes between 1% and 4% of what you spend. This enables anyone with a Ralphs Rewards Card to support the California Wildlife Center while saving money by swiping their Club Card when they shop at Ralphs. If you already have a Ralphs Rewards Card, log in to www.ralphs.com. Click on ‘Create Account’ and follow the easy steps. Click on Community Rewards – Enroll and search for California Wildlife Center.

Matching and Workplace Gifts

Does your company or employer conduct a workplace giving campaign (also called employee charitable fund drive) that allows you to designate California Wildlife Center for a one-time gift or payroll deduction? California Wildlife Center depends on significant pledge revenue from various workplace giving campaigns, including United Way.

Most campaigns are conducted in the fall, between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Be sure to look for California Wildlife Center in your company’s brochure. If the Center is not listed in your brochure, you can still show your support for your company’s workplace giving campaign while keeping your freedom-of-choice in selecting the Center.

Giving at Your Workplace. Why choose to give at the workplace? It’s the easiest and most effective way to support humane causes in your community. Giving through payroll deductions, spread out over the year, is extremely convenient. Once you pledge a contribution, it happens automatically — including a charitable donation calculation on your T4 slip at the end of the year for tax purposes.

Double or Triple the Value of Your Gift at No Extra Cost! A matching gift can increase the value of your gift to help us provide high quality animal care and continue to pursue advances in health care, community education and research. Many employers match the charitable gifts of their employees and retirees, including spouses. Contact your employer about how they can match your gift to CWC!

Leverage Your Volunteer Efforts. Some companies will make a donation in honor of their employee’s volunteer hours at CWC — check with your HR office.

Stock and IRA Gifts

Make a tax-wise alternative and consider donating securities to California Wildlife Center with your next donation!

The Center accepts gifts of publicly traded stocks, mutual funds, and bonds.

Planned Giving/Estate & Legacy Gifts

Leave a legacy for generations to come. By naming California Wildlife Center in your will or trust, you can help ensure that native wildlife will be protected in the future.

Gifts in Your Will

A bequest to California Wildlife Center can be accomplished with a simple statement in your will, or in a codicil to an existing will, or a revocable/living trust.

For example, you may make a specific bequest:

“I give and bequeath to California wildlife Center, Malibu, California, the sum of $___________ to be used for the general purposes of the organization.”

OR a residuary bequest:

“I give and bequeath to California Wildlife Center, Malibu, California, ____ percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to be used for the general purposes of the organization.”

If you wish, you may designate that your gift be used specifically for animal welfare, veterinary science or educational programs.

Gifts Listing California Wildlife Center as a Beneficiary

California Wildlife Center has partnered with Cars2Charties, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles that makes car donations easy. When you donate your car, you contribute to the well-being of our native wildlife. Your donation will ensure we are able to provide the best care to all our patients. In-Kind Donations

Philanthropy has an enormous impact on California Wildlife Center. From a new anesthesia machine, ICU incubator and X-ray machine — to outdoor enclosures and facility upgrades — CWC has benefited from the generosity of dozens of donors.

With advanced medical equipment, wildlife patients receive the full benefit of the veterinarian’s professional skills and avoid transport, which is inherently stressful to the animals.

Although support for new buildings or large endowments is very important, it’s the smaller items and improvements that help the center run smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
